At their core, gardens are gathering places, where people can get lost in the beauty and fascination of the natural world and create meaningful experiences together. This year's sessions will address the ways in which gardens harness both their individual and collective power to ignite connection, protection, and change. How the work of staff and volunteers provides respite, care, conservation, and a better understanding of all living beings, to both humans and plants alike. And lastly, to explore what new audiences, stories, and collaborations have been missing in this important work.
The theme CommUNITY of Gardens is also perfectly reflective of our conference destination, Portland, Oregon- a beautiful “City of Gardens” at the forefront of recent social, environmental, and community issues. The CommUNITY of Gardens conference will highlight the partnerships, established and emerging, between gardens and their chosen communities for the cultivation, security, and betterment of our planet, ourselves, and our future.

USDA Forest Service
The USDA Forest Service manages over 191 million acres of National Forest Lands on behalf of the American people, but also has a responsibility to support management on all forested lands across the United States. In particular, USDA Forest Service manages for water, timber, rangeland, fire, and recreation. Collaboration with many agencies and organizations like the American Public Gardens Association and its members is essential if there is any hope of effectively managing and sustaining our forests for future generations.
